Get quick answers to the most common questions about document attestation and visa support in the UAE.

Certificate attestation is required to validate the authenticity of your documents for official use in the UAE. It is essential for processes like employment visa applications, family sponsorship, education admissions, business setup, and legal proceedings. Without proper attestation, your documents may not be accepted by UAE authorities.

The attestation process for a degree certificate includes: Notarization in the country of issuance Attestation by that country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs UAE Embassy attestation in the same country Final attestation by MOFAIC in the UAE This sequence ensures the degree is legally recognized for use in the UAE.

MOFA attestation is the final step in validating documents like birth, marriage, degree, and commercial certificates for official use in the UAE. The process includes initial verification in the issuing country—typically through the UAE Embassy—followed by final attestation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MOFAIC) in the UAE. It confirms the document’s authenticity for legal recognition within the UAE.

Apostille is a simplified international certification for countries under the Hague Convention, using a single Apostille stamp. Attestation, on the other hand, is a multi-step process involving local authorities, foreign ministries, and embassies. Since the UAE is not part of the Hague Convention, full attestation—including MOFAIC approval—is required for foreign documents.

The most commonly attested documents include educational certificates (like degrees and diplomas), birth and marriage certificates, police clearance certificates, power of attorney, commercial licenses, and other legal or personal documents. Each document must go through a specific chain of attestation based on its type and issuing country.
